The Post 146 Challenge Coin
The Post has long been searching for a special, unique way to recognize Post and community members for superior performance, achievement, or contribution to the Post or Hopewell Community. For this purpose, the Post 146 Challenge Coin was created. The coin is solid brass with the American Legion seal on front and a portion of the City of Hopewell seal on the back
Any current, up-to-date member of Post 146 may nominate a person or persons whom they feel meets the award criteria to receive a Post 14 Challenge Coin. Award criteria are:
1. Outstanding Service: Any person of any age may be eligible for award of a Post 146 Challenge Coin based on the performance of individual service to others, service in an organization dedicated to the service of others, or service in the Hopewell Community which the Executive Committee deems laudable and worthy of recognition.
2. Individual Act: Any person of any age may be eligible for award of a Post 146 Challenge Coin based on the performance of a heroic or selfless act which the Executive Committee deems laudable and worthy of recognition.
3. Special Achievement: Any person of any age may be eligible for award of a Post 146 Challenge Coin based on academic, athletic, or otherwise unique achievement which the Executive Committee deems laudable and worthy of recognition.
Award requests must be submitted to the Post Executive Committee using an Award Request Form which is available from the Post administrative office or may be downloaded from the Post website.
Only one coin may be awarded to any person. However, a Challenge Coin may be awarded in conjunction with another award, if appropriate; e.g., a scholarship award.
